The Gig Harbor Folk Festival would like to thank all of you who sent in your songs as part of our songwriting competition. The board of judges had a long hard job in front of them when they met over the weekend. There were a large number of great tunes and we hope those not chosen will send again next year. This is proof positive that songwriting is alive and doing very well. As for this year the following people are the chosen winners for this years festival:

The songwriting contest is open to anyone writing and performing original music and who is not signed to a major recording or publishing deal. Contestants are judged on a number of criteria including composition, pitch, vocal delivery, and over all performance. (A hint: less is more). Submissions can be tape or CD, 5 songs per contestant 10.00 per song. Submit by mail, be sure to include phone number and e-mail address so we can notify you. Sorry submissions cannot be returned.

Entries must be received by August 1, 2007. Three finalists will be named and must be willing to travel to Gig Harbor, WA (on your nickel) and perform on the main stage where our panel of judges will determine the order of winners. The 1st prize winner will be invited back to perform a full set the following year on the main stage. Stay Tuned for this years great prizes.
Finalist will be notified by Aug. 5, 2007.
